Yes, they are plastic, knew that before I purchased! They are rather more blue than grey, but as I have other blue features (like a bench) they look well. No, they won’t last for ever and if you have kids or large dogs crashing about, maybe they are not for you. However, I am happy with the result; they stop soil from spilling onto my paving/stonework and give a neat finish. Installation: I am a small female and had no problem, bit of patience needed that’s all. You do need to use a handtrowel to dig a hole for the spike on each section. My patio is pressed concrete and there were a great many stones in the soil at the edges (stones probably used as a base for the concrete), so I had to make sure these were cleared to get the sections straight. I have a few spares, so I would expect a fair few years out of these edging strips, they won’t rot like wooden edging, but may in time get more brittle.

As others have said, it's not quite as durable as the description would perhaps imply. I can concur that hitting it with a mallet would definitely be a bad idea. That said, it's reasonably good for the price and only took a few minutes to install. Each section is 24.5cm long when interlinked. This makes the entire run 4.9m rather than 5m (just in case anyone needs it to be exactly 5m). It would be 5m if you didn't connect them but that's a bit unrealistic I'd have thought. An installation tip would be to mark where the spike needs to go in then use a trowel to make a 6" deep slot first. That way the pieces slide in with minimal force. Take it from me (and other reviewers) the spikes will snap off very easily. Dropped it a star as couple of spikes snapped off despite me being very careful. I would keep the strimmer away from it obviously as it's soft plastic. Only time will tell but at present it's doing the job and I've ordered another pack.

This product was not fit for the purpose intended - returned to seller for a full refund. The seller was really prompt and very polite and helpful with their replies, hence the 3 stars. The product in itself is ok, looks average, not amazing. The spike is broad and long but very thin, so although it might fit into narrow spaces and provide good support, you are better off digging first to place in edging rather than trying to hammer in a plastic product which will likely not withstand much external force. I like that the pieces slots into place with each other, giving a uniform and even look.

Bought this to replace edging of a garden border and they exceeded expectations. They were very easy to install and seem sturdy enough. Can’t comment on durability as they have only been up a few weeks but I think they look good, especially for a quick and cheap fix.

Product looks great from the front, but if you have a dual aspect flower bed it has just unsightly plastic ridges running down the back. They are also a tad on the flimsy side. The packet also only comes with each 'stone' having a slot out on the left side and a slot to go in on the other ie there are no starting 'stone' . So the left hand side of your border will have an unsightly ish look on that side... you MAY try to hacksaw this off but I havent been that brave yet. - to hide the unsightly plastic at the back I thought of doubling them up back to back, but because of the slots and the ground it wasnt viable. Otherwise, aesthetically it looks good from the front, except hard to get them to go in a totally straight line with an established border and will HOPEFULLY help keep my lawn from spreading so easily. Im using these to edge a path, so the fact one side is plain is not so good. They don't like that nice, very plastic. Rows often get out of alignment and the fact they interlock from the bottom makes it more difficult to correct when a row is uneven or a spike doesnt want to go in, so they unclip frequently. A row needs to be hit a little bit with a mallet so they all move down just a little bit, however, they are break very easily. I will probably end up having to use another type of edging.

I really wanted to love these but they are extremely weak and do not hold up. Also, they are so weak, we cannot even get them into the groud. We had to dig up a trench to insert them, and as soon as we got 3 together, they did not hold shape. Now they are just sitting in a box in our garage.

Fué un encargo de mi suegro para una mejora del jardín. Una vez instalados dan bastante el pego. Es un trozo de plástico algo endeble y muy sencillo. Hay que ir con cuidado al clavarlos en la tierra o los partirás. Para tierras trabajadas o removidas bien. Pero como los quieras clavar en tierra dura no entrarán y se partirán. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, avevo letto le recensioni precedenti dove alcuni accusavano la scarsità del prodotto, ne ho preso un pacco come prova e mi sono accorto che basta usare un minimo di cognizione e un po' di buon senso e il prodotto fa il suo senza rompersi, è fragile ok, ma basta infilarlo nella terra (magari bagnata prima e se è dura fargli un po' di invito con una palettina) con calma e senza alcun tipo di martello e il gioco è fatto.
