This galvanised steel bordering has a really cool corrugated design which feels quite rustic and a tad industrial. I’ve got quite a lot of ‘reclaimed’ stuff in my flower bed, including the original chimney pot to our house, a tyre rim from one of my dad’s classic cars used as a plant pot stand, a galvanised tub turned into a mini wildlife pond etc! So this looks right at home in my garden! It’s easy to bend into shape, I’ve used it to make a small circular planter, and cut it to size with some snips. The top and bottom edging is quite smooth, when you cut it you can just use some pliers to bend the sharp metal inwards to create a ‘seam’. I’ve got loads left so will probably made some veggie planters, and might think of a way to build a dust bath for my chickens with it too!

This garden edging, comes in a 40 foot length roll. It is 6 inches high which means that it can be inserted well into the ground to keep it in place. It looks nice and should weather better than plastic which becomes brittle. It will look attractive edging borders and lawns. The only concern I have, is if it is used to edge a lawn that small children played on. I would worry that it could cause injury if a child fell on it. At £33.99 for the 40 foot length, it is not cheap, but it does appear to be robust and better for the environment than plastic.

My Grandads lawn used to have a gap between the grass and the borders, and it gave the garden a lovely neat look. Fast forward 30 years and I’ve tried to recreate said gap for many years, but can never get it right. Saw this, and thought it may help. Few things to note. Aesthetically, you dont see a lot of corrugated metal in a garden, unless its on top of a shed or Brick outbuilding. Thats because it doesnt look very pretty. Two, its a long old roll of metal. Which means cutting it at some stage. To get anything even approaching a non razor like edge, i had to use an angle grinder to first cut, then blunt the resultant edge. Finally, this took hours to install. You have to have zero stones below it to install it straight, and how many gardens have zero stones in their soil? Things to consider before you purchase.

6 inch x 40ft metal lawn edging: This is a good length of edging, with plenty of depth. I've used it to edge an ornamental path in one of my borders, and there is more than enough width to allow it to be set into the ground. I've then covered the path with gravel, so with soil on one side and gravel on the path, it doesn't leave much of this visible, which is what I wanted. Of course, you can use it as more of a raised border if you want, but I just needed it as a border/path separator. It cuts easily with tin snips, & I've folded the cut ends with pliers to get rid of sharp edges. The top and bottom edges are already nicely rounded so there are no sharp edges. Considering most edgings are expensive for just a 6 foot strip, this is pretty good value for 40 feet.

You need to prepare your garden before trying to fit this roll as if you don't then it will bend as soon as you find a stone. I used a chisel on a SDS drill to make a long groove then fitted (hard work) the finish does look good. It goes a lot further than you think and it's easy to cut (thin) So all in all not bad but material is a little too thin for a heavy use garden.
